WRITER AND ILLUSTRATOR OF CHILDREN'S STORIES

Monty's Boots

Clive, like most spiders enjoyed living in boots. Football boots, flying boots, climbing boots, even Wellington boots all make very comfortable homes for spiders.
Just now he was living in a pair of old army boots, which were covered in mildew, and hanging on the wall in Albert Spindler's washhouse. Clive thought they were the best boots he'd ever lived in. There was a window in the toecap, and a hole in the sole, through which he could pop in and out. He'd made a comfortable bed from cotton wool stuffed in the toe, and used the laces to climb up to his web.
Clive was a very happy and contented spider; and would spend the long summer days reading comics or just watching the dust particles dancing in the sunshine as it streamed through the holes in the washhouse roof. Of course, nothing lasts forever, as Clive was about to find out!
This is a collection of three short stories about Clive's adventures as he battles to save his contented way of life amidst the change and upheaval all around him.
